I used to be a huge coffee drinker, not realizing it was causing imbalances in my hormones and actually stealing my energy after the 20 minutes of bliss I have after drinking it. Fast forward to today and I have not had coffee for over a year now and let me tell you, my hormones and energy are forever grateful. I have found many coffee alternatives that I have come to love!
Now that being said, I did not give up caffeine in general, and most days I do enjoy a little boost for energy, and mostly focus:) I traded that coffee addiction into a tea addiction. Teas can be so incredible healing and powerful. Full of compounds that prevent aging, detoxify, promote mental clarity, increase energy, and so, so much more depending on what you get.
Without further ado, here are my absolute favorite teas for energy, clarity, focus, and overall sense of well being.
Coffee Alternatives: Yerba Mate:

Mate comes from the leaves of the Holly Tree that grow in the rain forest of South America.
Yerba Mate beats coffee because not only does it contain the stimulants you’re looking for, but it also contains so many nutrients!
Yerba Mate contains:
- 15 Amino Acids (protein building blocks)
- 11 Polyphenols (including Rutin and Quercetin)
- 24 Vitamins & minerals (including vitamin B3 [niacin], calcium, and selenium)
- 2 Times the antioxidant power of green tea
- Chlorophyll, flavonoids, and essential fatty acids
Yerba Mate helps you to avoid the coffee jitters by providing you its stimulation through a compound called mateine. This compound provides the body with constant, long lasting focus and clarity unlike traditional caffeine in coffee.
Yerba mate has been used traditionally to help improve digestion, eliminate toxins from the body, improve energy levels, and strengthen the immune system

Tulsi Tea (caffeine free)

Tulsi, is known in India as the “elixir of anti-aging”. Studies have shown that it can help you fight fatigue and stress, boost your immune system, and regulate blood sugar, blood pressure and hormone levels. Holy Basil is is an adaptogen. Adaptogens are a unique class of healing plants that help balance, restore and protect the body as well as help the body handle stress.
These three teas have truly given me constant energy, focus, and an overall sense of well being. Try them out and let me know what you think!
