I often get questions about what books would be good to read if someone is interested in health and wellness. Well, that is a tough one because there are literally hundreds of great choices. It is absolutely incredible the resources that are available at our finger tips right now.
I put together a short list of a few of my favorite Health Reading Recommendations. Below are a few of the books that I have found to be incredibly helpful and informative in terms of health and wellness, I am sure this list will change often;) I have learned so much from each one, and they are a great read for anyone interested in learning how to have the best health possible.
Health Reading Recommendations
Body Ecology by Donna Gates: One of my favorite health books of all time. Explains the importance of digestive health, probiotics, cleansing, and rebuilding your inn-ecosystem to transform your health. The Body Ecology Products she creates are incredible and have made a huge difference in my life.
Woman Code Alisa Vitti: An amazing book for all woman to read. Explains how woman’s hormones work, and how to solve problems such as PMS, irregular periods, heavy periods, PCOS, infertility, and low libido. My favorite part is how it explains how woman can learn where there hormone levels are throughout the month and how to plan exercise, eating, and work around that.
Nourishing Traditions by Sally Fallon: Such a classic. This book is amazing at explaining the importance of cooking and eating a traditional diet. The perfect guide to: soaking grains, nuts, and legumes, making bone broth, making fermented food and drinks, and so much more. This book basically taught me how to cook.
The Hormone Cure by Dr. Sara Gotfried: I am a lover of all things hormones and this is a wonderful resource to figure out what may be going on with yours as well as solutions to the symptoms you may be facing.
Adrenal Fatigue, the 21st Century Stress Syndrome by James Wilson: A very eye opening read on how stress is devastated our health and how to reestablish balance.
The Paleo Cure by Chris Kresser: Chris Kresser is one of my favorite people to learn from. In this book he uses the Paleo diet as a template from which you can tailor a simple yet powerful three-step program-Reset, Rebuild, Revive-to fit your lifestyle, body type, and genetic blueprint. You’ll learn how to eliminate the toxic foods that cause illness and weight gain, how to sleep better, exercise like our ancestors, cultivate pleasure, and vastly improve overall health.
Nourishing Wisdom by Marc David: One of my favorites. Describes the importance of addressing the emotional and spiritual aspects of our lives in order to truly nourish ourselves. Combining the principles of nutritional awareness, personal growth, and body psychology,
Digestive Wellness by Elizabeth Lipski: The health of your digestive system determines the health of your entire body. This book explains how your digestive system works and what to do when it doesn’t. You’ll find practical solutions to all the common gastrointestinal disorders (and many other conditions) and expert guidance on the newest advances in testing and diagnosis, nutrition, and natural therapies. Plus, you’ll learn how faulty digestion can affect the human body systemically, from migraines and skin issues to fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome.
Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler : In my opinion, this is a MUST read for every woman alive. Most of the woman I know have no idea how their body works. This was definitely my case. This book taught me how amazing the monthly cycle is and what is and is not normal. If you are wanting to know about how to do natural birth control or get pregnant, this is such a great resource.
