Healthy Food Swaps for Energy, Glowing Skin, and Disease Prevention

Nothing makes a healthy lifestyle more attainable than Healthy Food Swaps! Instead of getting rid of foods, simply switch them out with something else. Small changes -> big results!

Healthy Food Swaps

Swap sandwich bread and tortillas with big green leafs:

Dark-Leafy-GreensCombing meat with bread is one sure way to steal your energy and make you bloated. Check out the best way to combine foods for energy and weight loss here. Instead, try wrapping your usual sandwich insides in a big leaf–like a Swiss Chard leaf, or Romaine lettuce leaf. Holds everything together, and you get the added antioxidants of the greens.

Swap pasteurized milk with full fat coconut milk:

Good quality milk is very rare to find. I would only recommend drinking raw or low temperature pasteurized organic milk from grass fed animals. If you can’t do that, using full fat coconut milk will give you the same  texture while adding valuable nutrients that are essential for health, energy, and glowing skin. This is one of the most important healthy foods swaps you can do!

Swap white potatoes and rice with cauliflower:

If you want a light dish that wont weigh you down as much make the cauliflower swap! Cauliflower is so versatile and can be made to taste absolutely incredible. Try making mashed cauliflower potatoes or cauliflower rice. This switch will fuel your energy, prevent disease, and even help you lose weight.

Swap bread at dinner with Root vegetables:

Most dinners are served with bread. Normally because people are looking for that dense, filling thing that is going to make their meal more satisfying. Instead of reaching for bread, go for the starchy veggies, like sweet potatoes and winter squash. They add some substance to any meal and help make meals more satisfying. Baking a sweet potato or spaghetti squash, add some butter and sea salt and you will never miss the bread again!

Swap processed granola and protein bars with fruit and almond butter:

coconut dateMost granola bars on the market today are filled with sugar, preservatives, and GMO wheat. This is aging your body and ruining your skin. Instead of grabbing the those toxic bars with a thousand ingredients, try grasping some fruit and nuts and spread some almond butter on them. You could also make your own granola bar using nuts, dates, and honey.

Swap pasta with spaghetti squash, zucchini noodles, OR quinoa, rice, sweet potato pasta:

Pasta and heavy carbohydrate meals make you sluggish, and spike blood sugar levels which causes numerous diseases, hormone imbalances, and toxicities in the body. Try adding your meat or protein and veggies to spaghetti squash or zucchini noodles. If you want more of a filling substitute, try pasta that is made from quinoa, brown rice, or sweet potatoes.

Swap peanut butter with almond butter:

Peanuts contain naturally occurring fungal toxins and one of the most unhealthy fatty acid profiles of all nuts, even though, technically, it isn’t a nut at all. Instead, reach for raw almond butter.

Swap milk chocolate with dark chocolate:

Of course chocolate has health benefits. Especially raw dark chocolate. The darker the better.  Switch out milk chocolate for some delicious dark chocolate. You’ll get the benefits of less sugar, more magnesium and a healthily satisfied sugar craving.

Swap soda with kombucha, or flavored naturally sweetened sparkling water.

Sugar is the number one toxin to the entire body. Both soda and diet soda are very hard on your liver. They also cause hormone imbalances and feed diseases like cancer. Try kombucha or other sparkling beverages to satisfy your craving and give your health a boost.

Swap table salt with Celtic or Himalayan sea salt:

salt scrubSalt is not bad for your, it is actually an important part of your diet. Table salt is NOT real salt. One of the easiest swaps of all: use himalayan salt or celtic sea salt in place of refined salt. The minerals in these salts are so important and good for your body, plus they make everything taste better.

Swap vegetable Oil or margarine with butter or coconut oil:

Vegetable oils like canola oil, safflower oil, and soybean oil are toxic to the body and turn rancid when heated. For baking, substitute melted butter or coconut oil.

Swap white sugar with raw honey, coconut sugar, stevia, or pure maple syrup:

Again, refined sugar is one of the worse things you can put in your body for thousands of reasons. Instead reach for natural sweetness. Coconut sugar, mineral rich and low glycemic. Raw honey or 100% pure maple syrup are also excellent options if you are looking to satisfy your sweet tooth.

Swap non fat yogurt with full fat:

Low fat, non fat are NOT better options. They actually cause weight gain and imbalances in the body. For glowing skin, tons of energy, and fast weight loss, eat a generous amount of quality healthy fat. This could mean raw organic full fat grass fed yogurt or kefir.

Swap store bought salad dressing with easy homemade dressing:

Salad dressings usually contain canola oil, soybean oil, or safflower oil. This are all stealing your health. Instead, make your own easy salad dressing with 3 parts good quality olive oil and 1 part lemon juice.
