How This Nourishes Your Body

Adaptogens are certain plant and herbs that have incredible healing and restorative properties. We are all under stress. We all go through extremely stressful periods of time, hopefully less often than more, but we know that it is very taxing on the body.  The number one cause of many disease and health problems out there are caused by stress. Elevated cortisol (stress hormone) is like poison running through our veins when it happens on a constant basis. Even getting stuck in traffic, rushing to eat, and going to bed late elevates cortisol in your body.

Obviously, we cannot avoid stress BUT we can do things that help our body deal with it so it does not harm our inner ecosystem. Deep breathing is a fantastic way to get your body out of the “fight or flight” system when you are feeling a little anger or anxiety.

When I am under stress, or when I feel anxiety coming on, I turn to my beloved adaptogens to boost my mood, energy, and clarity. The stress around me does not change, but by taking my adaptogens, the way I view the stress and handle it is completely different.

Adaptogens are a unique class of healing plants that help balance, restore, and protect the body.  They help you respond to any influence or stressor, normalizing your physiological functions. These specific herbs help your body deal with stress, often leading to a more relaxed, focused mine.

The below adaptogens have all of these benefits, try one for a while and see how you feel!

  • Increases energy and stamina
  • Increases focus and mental capacity
  • Helps the body resist physical, mental, and emotional stress
  • Boosts immune system
  • Greatly reduces anxiety and depression

Maca:. I am a huge fan of Maca! Maca is grown in the mountains of Peru and has been used by Peruvians for years to boost stamina, fertility, and general sense of well-being and vitality.  It truly  is amazing at increasing your energy as well as balancing woman’s hormones. If you are dealing with low libido, low energy, menstrual irregularities, hot flashes, or mood swings, give maca a go! I also wrote quite a bit about maca here.
