I must admit, when I heard about and saw people jumping on mini trampolines, I thought it was crazy at worst and fun at best. I never imagined the Benefits of Rebounding could transform the health of the body.

I began getting interested in rebounding while studying ways to set up my home work environment so I could move more throughout the day (we all know how easy it is to sit behind a computer all day!) I thought getting a rebounder or mini trampoline would be a great way to take breaks to get some movement in each day. The more I researched, the more I learned that rebounding does much, much more than just moving your body.

Rebounding Research

The biggest study that caught my eye was done by NASA. Their research found that rebounding can be more than twice as effective as treadmill running. NASA began studying the benefits of rebounding while trying to find an effective way to help astronauts recover and regain bone and muscle mass after being in space. They found that the acceleration and deceleration of rebounding provides benefits on a cellular level and at a greater rate than other forms of exercise like running.

How Rebounding Works

Most exercises are done to target specific muscles or just to increase cardiovascular function. Rebounding is unique since it uses the forces of acceleration and deceleration and can work on every cell in the body in a unique way. Rebounding offers deep cellular reinvigoration that even the most rigorous physical training cannot otherwise provide. Rebounding may just be one of the most efficient, fun and frequently overlooked ways to tone the entire body!

The benefits of rebounding come from the beneficial forces of gravity related to acceleration (g-forces). Jumping up and down or acceleration and deceleration harnesses the natural energies that are inherent in our world to use to our advantage. When g-force is strong, the body must also become strong. There are few other activities that allow this type of force to run through every cell of the body.

Why Start: Benefits of Rebounding

Exercise your cells:

  • The process of rebounding works to quicken the movement of oxygen, nutrients, hormones, enzymes and wastes through the cells, for complete cellular cleansing.
  • Rebounding has one thing that sets it apart from all other exercises. It is the only one that strengthens, cleanses, and tones every cell in the body because of the gravitational pull.
  • Rebounding tones the body’s internal organs, veins, and arteries, as well as every muscle and every bone all at the same time.
  • Increases endurance on a cellular level by stimulating mitochondrial production (these are responsible for cell energy)

Full Body Detox

  • The lymphatic system is like the “garbage disposal of the body.” The only way it can take the toxins and fluids that are accumulated throughout our day is through our movement. If we are not moving each day, our garbage is not getting taken out. Without movement, the lymphatic fluid and toxins get blocked in the lymph instead of leaving the body.
  • Rebounding is by far the most effective movement for increasing lymph flow and draining toxins from the body. Many functional medicine practitioners recommend daily rebounding as a gentle detox technique. Due to the up-down jumping, lymphatic fluid is forced to flow and flush toxins.
  • (another way to boost your lymphatic system is by dry brushing)

Boosts Immune and Hormonal Function

  • The unique motion of rebounding can also help support the thyroid and adrenals.
  • Detoxing excess hormones and toxins is key to a healthy hormonal system. Rebounding is wonderful for anyone with hormone imbalance.
  • Rebounding improves the immune system by increasing the action of red bone marrow and supports tissue repair.
  • Rebounding promotes growth and tissue repair.

Boosts Energy

  • Rebounding helps circulate oxygen throughout the body to increase energy.
  • Rebounding enhances the body’s alkaline reserve for potential emergency output.
  • Rebounding circulates blood, oxygen, and nutrients to the brain and other organs for increased energy.
  • More way to boost energy here.

How to Rebound

Have I convinced you to get a rebounder yet?:) I have been loving mine as a way to boost movement and energy throughout the work day.

For maximum results, it is recommended to jump for 15-20 minutes a day. This can be broken up and spread out throughout the day. I like to jump in the morning, before lunch, and midafternoon- the times I need an energy boost the most!

Have you ever tried rebounding? What did you think about it?
